Agnes Mardis Joy (Vaughan) Beene, 71, left to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2013. Agnes was born in Greensboro, NC on January 21, 1942 to Edward and Ann (Courter) Vaughan. She moved with her mother, brother and sister as an infant to Battle Creek, MI. She attended Battle Creek Public Schools and graduated St. Phillip High School in 1959. As a young girl she was very active in the Battle Creek Youth Theatre. She was married to Larry Benton in 1963 which ended in divorce. She remarried in 1982 to Roger Allen Beene, he survives. She had four children in her first marriage, Greg (Debbie) Benton, Kim (Dusty) Rodriquez, Heather (Carl) Crosslan, Angela Joy Benton (deceased). She had two children in her second marriage, Roger Christopher Thomas Beene and Amanda Caroline Beene (deceased), and three stepchildren Curtis Allen Beene, Karen Vick and Roger Allen Beene (deceased).
Joy's beloved family also includes one brother, Edward Bracy Vaughan (deceased) and sisters Betty Vaughan, Carol Vice (deceased), Jessica Courter and her loving mother (Ann Courter, deceased), a very special sister-in-law Charlene Vaughan, an amazing caregiver- Linda Noel, along with many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a great dog, Molly. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life. She was loved and will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 16, officiated by Brother Mitchell Beene.
