Anne Irene (Smith) Greenman

August 6, 1939 — August 11, 2024

Anne Greenman, 85, died at home on August 11, 2024, with everlasting love in her heart for her family and friends.

She was born on August 6, 1939, to Jack and Noreen (Tobin) Smith and was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek. She graduated from St. Philip High School in 1957.

Anne married Ed Greenman on May 9, 1959, at St. Philip Catholic Church and they celebrated almost 64 years together. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2023.

Anne began volunteering at St. Philip when her children were in school and she also volunteered for the St. Philip Thrift Shop, Lakeview Food Pantry, and was a member of the St. Philip Council of Catholic Women. She also loved watching her children and grandchildren at their sporting events, reading books, home decorating and cooking cheesy potatoes for her family.

She worked as an accountant for several businesses and took pride in being the person that “paid” for the construction of the Stouffer hotel in downtown Battle Creek.

Anne loved hosting parties for family and friends on holidays and at their cottage home in South Haven. After moving to Goguac Lake, she enjoyed riding on their pontoon boat. Her home was always the central hub for the family.

Anne is survived by her daughter Lorrie (Larry) Bentz, and sons Ed (Beth) Greenman Jr., and Todd (Caroline) Greenman; grandchildren Ashley (John Paul) Prebish, Morgan (Devan) Kline, Kevin (Aline) Greenman, Jenna (Stephen) Gangi, Anna Greenman (fiancé Hannah Goldstein), Carrie Greenman, and Jack Greenman (fiancé Alyssa Long-Cuba). She is also survived by great grandchildren Katherine and Thomas Prebish, Cameron, Maxwell, and Ryan Kline, and Gianna Gangi; sister Cathy (Todd) Erskine, brother Rick (Lrenda) Smith, sister-in-law Dorene Smith, brother-in-law Tom Cobb, and many nieces and nephews who adored her more like a grandmother than an aunt. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Mike Stevens, brothers Mike Smith and Pat Smith, and sister Janet Cobb.
