Beatrice A. "Bea" Dobos, age 94, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2019. She was born in Battle Creek on September 8, 1925, the loving daughter of Leo and Wilma (Arnold) Bowers and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. Along with taking care of her family, Bea was the office manager at Dobos Lawnmower for many years
Bea married the "Love of Her Life", Timothy "Tim" Dobos on December 31, 1945; he preceded her in death on June 24, 2015. She is survived by her children, Ann McHale of Battle Creek, Lawrence Dobos of Plainwell, MI, and Nancy Weirick of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Randy Crawford, Jennifer Blowers, Denise Mann, Shannon Underwood, Melissa Toyoshima, Kevin McHale, Patrick McHale; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor (Bill) Rop. Bea was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Edwin Bowers.
Bea had a true servant's heart and was a founding member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, where she was active with the Ladies Group and helped with Bingo, funerals, festivals, and in the cafeteria. She also volunteered at the former Valentine Building for many years and often visited the sick & elderly and took them places when needed. She enjoyed music, sewing, camping, traveling, and keeping her house clean.
Family was everything to Bea and she truly loved family gatherings, and just having her family with her. Tim & Bea traveled as much as they could with their children & grandchildren, taking them on adventures to new places and creating many wonderful memories.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24, 2019 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 229 Collier Ave., Battle Creek where the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Haven of Rest, St. Jerome Catholic Church, or the Salvation Army.
