Betty Lou Greer, age 87, of Augusta, passed away Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016. She was born on January 22, 1929 in Hastings, Michigan, the loving daughter of Harold R. and Velma E. "Dick" (Otis) Harmon, and graduated from the W.K. Kellogg Agricultural School. Over the years, Betty was employed at the Augusta Telephone Company, Clark Equipment Company, Blue Diamond Lumber, and retired from the Michigan Livestock Exchange after 27 years of faithful service.
Betty married Gordon C. Greer in Hickory Corners on October 11, 1947; he sadly preceded her in death on October 18, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Lisa Kay Doremus. Betty is survived by her children, Larry (Marcia) Greer, Dale (Deb) Greer, Dan Greer, and Barbara Greer, all of Augusta; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and a very large extended family. She was also looking forward to the arrival of another great-grandchild and a great-great grandchild.
Betty attended Day Bible Church in Augusta. She was active with the 4-H Club for many years and was a member of the Delton Ladies "Lunch Bunch". She enjoyed watching her CBS Soaps, playing Kindle & computer games, Facebook, doodling, many different types of word games, cake decorating, and loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D. Ave. (M-89), Richland where funeral services to celebrate Betty's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2016. Interment will follow at Day Cemetery.
