Beverly Jean (Imus) Doane, 78, of Battle Creek, died August 6, 2014 surrounded by her family. Beverly was born January 18, 1936 in Battle Creek to Homer and Gladys (Little) Imus. She graduated from Lakeview High School and worked for Harper Creek Schools as a bus driver, at Kresge Dime Store and McClunnis Dime Store.
Beverly was involved in many activities. She was a long time member of Sonoma United Methodist Church and was baptized there in 1944. She volunteered at the Battle Creek Health System gift shop, was the former treasurer for the Firefighters Association and was a member of the Leroy Township Firefighters Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her friends playing bunco and bingo. She loved to make crafts and personal greeting cards. She especially enjoyed spoiling her miniature poodle.
Beverly is survived by her four children: Virgina Carrican , Janet (Bill) Lichty , Joan (Mike) Findley and Larry (Penny) Leonard and her seven children by marriage: Helen (Bob) Wilbur, Douglas (Kathy) Doane, Barbara (Jim) Weems, Donna (Jon) Wiese, Dennis (Melissa) Doane, Thomas Doane and Timothy Doane as well as her two sisters Nancy (Richard) Leonard, Linda (Lloyd) Irish, a sister-in-law Darlene Imus and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Lee Doane in 2003 as well as a brother, James Imus, Mother Gladys (Little) Imus, Father Homer Imus and granddaughter Catherine Leonard.
Visitation will be Friday, August 8, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services to celebrate Beverly's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory can be made to Great Lakes Hospice via GreatLakesCaring.com.
