Billy “Bill” Adams, age 77, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday evening, April 2, 2023 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee on April 14, 1945, the son of James and Mary (Chadwick) Adams and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Bill retired from General Motors and Penske Transportation in 1999 after more than 30 years.
Bill married his loving wife, Ruth “Katie” (Lemmons) Adams in Battle Creek on January 23, 1971; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Jimmy (Melissa) Ohrt, Billy Adams, and Samantha Terry, all of Battle Creek; five grandchildren, Cameron, Kylie, Alison, Dakota, and Kayla; a great-grandson, Max; six brothers & sisters, Mary Rizner, Larry (Ruth Ann) Adams, Sarah Adams, Jimmy (Gayle) Adams, Linda Wilkins, Danny Adams, Gail Coonrod; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Austin Terry; and a brother, Rocky Adams.
Bill was a member of the N.R.A. and the Climax American Legion Post #465. He truly enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting & fishing, and spending time with his family, especially the family cookouts.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where services to celebrate Bill’s life will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 7th. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the Climax American Legion Post #465, 6101 S 44th St, Climax, MI 49034 or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 32121 Woodward Ave Suite 350, Royal Oak, MI 48073 , would be appreciated.
