Carole Lynn Galloway Love

The wisest and most beautiful woman in the world has died. Carole Lynn Galloway Love was born on a cold winter's day, January 5, 1945, and died on the first sunny day of this year, February 23, 2021.

The beginning and the end of this life is not nearly as important as all of the days and nights between those two dates. It's impossible to encapsulate 76 years in mere paragraphs; those who were blessed to have known Carole knew her to be an elusively shy, charming woman who had a wicked sense of humor, was always wise beyond her years, had great intellect and too many skills to list, was always stronger than she believed, and was inherently humble and selfless.
Carole was the daughter of Richard A. and Mildred E. (Carroll) Galloway. She was welcomed home by her twin sisters, Marie and Rita, almost four years her senior. The twins doted on their little sister. She became a big sister to siblings Michael, Patrick, Michele, John and Cynthia. Carole, like her father and grandfather, was an industrious entrepreneur--as a child she cleverly started a lemonade stand in the front yard of the family home on E. Prospect as the East Drive neighborhood was being developed. Rumor has it she also crocheted potholders for door-to-door sales until she was old enough to help at her parents' bakery.

Carole graduated from Marshall High School in 1963. She attended Western Michigan University, taking honors courses and making many happy memories.
Carole married Charles G. Love on January 29, 1966. Together they had four children. Home life was everything to Carole and being a mother was her joy (mostly). Our mother gave us her very best, always. She taught us our faith, grounded our lives in strong moral standards, and provided us unconditional love and support. We weren't an easy bunch to raise, but our love and appreciation for our beautiful mother is eternal. And we gave her 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who were her joy.

After suffering two strokes and being diagnosed with dementia almost five years ago, we saw Carole's tremendous inner-strength, faith in God, and her desire to continue to care for her family despite the great challenges before her emerged as time went on.

Jordan Peterson once said: "You pick up the weight of your suffering and you walk uphill with it." This was our mother--she met life's challenges in the past years with her quiet but fierce strength and with grace. We will forever treasure our time together and will always remember her laughter and singing. She was an absolute legend.

Carole leaves behind her devoted husband of 55 years, Charles, children Tiffiny (E.J.) Harrington, Sean, Patrick, and Emily (Bill) Policella, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters Marie (Chris) Dippel, Michele (Jim) Sahli, Cyndi (Skip) VanHorn, brothers Michael (Cathy) Galloway, and John (Kim) Galloway. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rita Gay, and brother Patrick Galloway. Carole was also blessed to enjoy the gift of friendship with her "Bridge Girls" for 50+ years. She never forgot them, nor they her.

Private services have been held at St. Mary's Catholic Church with interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Marshall. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
