Charles Kingsley "Chuck" McCann, Jr., age 84, of Battle Creek died peacefully surrounded by his family at Reflections Memory Care on Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was born July 18, 1934 in Downers Grove, Illinois to Charles Kingsley and Bernice "Bunny" (Zelms) McCann. Chuck grew up in Downers Grove, graduating from Downers Grove High School in 1952. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1956. He met the "Love of His Life" at the University of Michigan, Sally Ann Trowbridge.
Chuck and Sally were united in marriage on December 17, 1955. His wife Sally passed away on July 18, 2017. Chuck is survived by two children, Scott (Mariclare) McCann and Carrie (Ron) Maiorano; seven grandchildren, Adrienne (Steve) Appel, Stephanie (Adam) Reuscher, Melissa (Ryan) Trauger, Jordan McCann, Hailee (Jake) Leveto, Hilary Maiorano, and Hannah Maiorano; six great-grandchildren, Lillian, Oliver, Beckett, Ellis, Dexter, and Lincoln; and his sister, Sandra Nemeth.
Chuck spent the majority of his life as an investment professional, helping individuals and corporations with their investment needs. He was active in many charities, but his biggest success was chairing the board of directors for the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. He was an avid golfer & pool player, and a devoted University of Michigan fan. Chuck was a very active member of the First Wesleyan Church.
Chuck was a wonderful and thoughtful husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather. He was an incredibly charitable and loving soul, especially where children and animals were concerned. When it came to his family, he put everyone's needs before his own. Chuck will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 26th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where a service to celebrate Chuck's life will follow at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015-8609 or All Species Kinship (ASK), P.O.
