Charles "Denny" Miller

Charles “Denny” Miller, age 77, of Battle Creek passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, June 14, 2023.  He was born in Petoskey, Michigan on February 16, 1946, and was the son of Clarence Miller and Patricia (Bean) Souder.  Denny faithfully served his country as a member of the 101^st Airborne ("Screaming Eagles"), United States Army, during Vietnam.    He retired from Bill Knapp’s after more than 25 years and then opened & founded Miller’s Time Out in 1997.  Denny was very social and always enjoyed visiting with everyone at the restaurant.

On August 9, 1969, Denny married his loving wife, Laura (Madsen) Miller in Grand Rapids, Michigan; she survives.  He is also survived by his children, Darryl (Maggie) Antcliff, Melisa (Karl) Bloch and Tenneil (Christopher Hale) Zielaskowski; six grandchildren, Drew Antcliff, Laken Antcliff, Dieter Bloch, Rykert Bloch, Jasek Zielaskowski, and Aleksander Zielaskowski; a brother, David (Kathy) Miller; and three step-brothers, Rick (Holly) Kurtz, Randy Kurtz, and Gary (Ruth) Kurtz.    

A true patriarch, Denny was the glue of the family and always looked forward to family holidays, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  Denny was truly patriotic and very proud of his military service in Vietnam.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and had a great love for dogs. An avid Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan fan, Denny also enjoyed watching all types of sports.
