         Chris, age 76, of Bristol and Long Lakes, born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, died Thursday morning, March 7, 2024 at her residence with her family by her side. Chris, the daughter of Albert and Marilyn (Gailey) Hewitt, was born on January 11, 1948 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Chris worked many jobs throughout her life including returning to school to earn her degree in Criminal Justice. She started her career as a Correctional Officer for the Ionia Maximum Correctional Facility in 1987 and then retiring in 1998 as a Sergeant for the Woman’s Correctional Facility in Coldwater, MI. She also received an award for marksmanship during her corrections training. Her hobbies included cooking, hunting, fishing, canning, gardening, bowling, raising animals, traveling, casino outings, warm weather, spending time at her grandkids sporting events as well as spending time with her family.  

       Chris was united in marriage to Stanley “Stan” B. Hill in Battle Creek on August 15, 1980 and he sadly preceded her in death on December 1, 2015. Chris is survived by her two daughters, Dawn M. (Tim) Kepler of Charlotte, MI and Kimberly A. (Scott) Johnson of Ashland City, TN; three sons, Robert D. and Richard D. Hill, both of Ionia, MI and Brian (Kathy) Davis of Clarksville, TN, thirteen wonderful grandchildren, Devin Teske, McKenzie Teske, Mackenzie Satterlee, Kaitlyn Johnson, Dylan Hill,  Dustin Hill, Keona Thomas, Autumn Davis, Alex Booth, Destiny Hill, Richard Hill, Jr., Austin Hill, and Keegan Hill;  her two sisters; Kathy (Doug) Jackson of Battle Creek and Caroline Greenman of Albion, MI and special niece’s, Tammy Ambrosia, Lisa Grant, Michelle Bennett and Gayle Seiler. She is also preceded in death by her parents. 

      The graveside service to celebrate Chris’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 19th at 12:00 pm in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with Chaplain Jim Merrills, officiating.  A celebration of life luncheon will immediately follow the service at Wild Mike’s, 22575 Bedford Road, North, Battle Creek, MI, 49017. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to an organization of your choice or to the family. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek is handling Chris’ arrangements.
