Christopher A. "Chris" Vogt

January 30, 1960 — September 20, 2020

Christopher A. Vogt, 60, passed away at home on Sunday, September 20, 2020 as the result of an accidental gun discharge.

Chris was born January 30, 1960 in Battle Creek, the son of Floyd Duane and Marie Ann "Nancy" (Keating) Vogt. He attended St. Philip Elementary and was a 1978 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Chris was a skilled mechanic who enjoyed fixing anything with an engine. He ran a mobile repair business where he earned the nickname "Mobile Mechanic". This afforded him the flexibility to do what he loved most which was experiencing life and culture. He spent a lot of time traveling and living in different places such as California and as far away as Palau (look it up, you'll ask yourself why you don't live there). He was happiest spending time with family and friends sharing stories of his adventures and making plans for the next.

Chris was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved nothing more than to share the woods, waters, hunting camps and memories with his many close friends and family.

He will be remembered as a kind and adventurous soul. The type who marched to the beat of his own drum. Someone easily befriended and always supportive. He loved trying new things while encouraging others to do the same. A wise man willing to pass on his knowledge. Someone you could call on for a helping hand and while lending that hand, would tell you to quit your job and go hunting. This was his way of reminding everyone to slow down and enjoy life!

Surviving are five children and their families, Adam Kilbourn and his children, Aiden and Miranda Kilbourn; Chris Kilbourn and his children, Alisha Shuford and her children, Coreyonna Patton, Jayleon Ethison, Brayon Williams, Kayveon Stallings; Justin Stockman and his daughter, Cheyenne Stockman; and Christian; three brothers, Daniel D. (Carol) Vogt of Hickory Corners, Timothy J. Vogt of Kalamazoo, Jonathan B. (Mary Frances "Sisca") Vogt of Koror, Palau; a sister, Mary A. (Jeff) Bobrofsky of Indiana; and 12 nieces and nephews, cousins and their families. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Nancy.

A memorial gathering for all family and friends will be held on Saturday October 17th at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall Michigan from 4-7pm. Guests are welcome to arrive at any time. The event will be outdoors under a large tented area with seating. Food and drinks will be provided. A cash bar will be available and masks will be required.
