Clemens J. “Clem” Skalka
Clemens John Skalka age 85, passed away in Battle Creek, MI on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Clem was born February 11, 1939 in Whiting, Indiana to Mary and Clement Skalka. He attended St. Adalbert School, Bishop Noll High School, Illinois Institute of Technology, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hartford, Hartford, CT. Clem married Carole Ann Norton on August 20, 1960 in Hammond, IN and was blessed with a son Steven Charles Skalka in 1961. He began his engineering career with Combustion Engineering (East Chicago, IN) in 1957, retiring in 2006 as a project manager for Alstom Power, Windsor, CT. After living for thirty-three years in Simsbury, CT, Carole and Clem retired and moved to Battle Creek, MI in 2006 to be closer to their son Steve’s family, his wife Stacy and their darling grandchildren Quinn and Emily. Clem was predeceased by an older brother Anthony and younger sister Bernadette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek. A private burial service will be held at Simsbury Cemetery, Simsbury, CT. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or EWTN television network, 5817 Old Leeds Rd, Irondale AL 35210, USA .
