David Joseph Duval age 64 died Friday, May 19, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his family at his side after a long illness.
David was born September 28, 1952, one of five children of George William and Lisa Marie (Bonacorsi) Duval. Dave was a 1970 graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central High School. He attended Dayton University and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1974. Dave worked at the Kellogg Biological Center and Leila Hospital before joining the family business, Battle Creek Tent & Awning in 1975. In 1980 David became the owner/manager.
Dave was formerly married to Mary Cook with whom he had two loving daughters, Danielle Harris of Woodland Park Colorado and Cortney Duval of Denver, Colorado; two grandchildren, Evan and Layla Harris; three brothers, Dennis (Susan) Duval of Battle Creek, Duane Duval of Seattle WA, Mark Duval of Kalamazoo; a sister, Suzanne (David) Duval-Rivers of Boulder Colorado; four nephews and numerous cousins.
Dave was preceded in death by an infant son, Jacque Rene Duval on November 12, 1981; his parents and infant brother Michael David Duval.
Dave will be remembered as a good student, loving father, brother, and friend with a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh and loyalty to all. His demons plagued him and disguised his good heart and intentions, but his smile and warmth melted even the doubters. He loved the outdoors, campfires, fishing, boating, the beach at Lake Michigan, bird watching while sitting in his sunroom and gardening.
Friends will be received the hour prior to services at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where memorial services for Dave will be celebrated by Deacon James Nelson at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017. There will be a celebration at the farm following his burial.
