David Michael Wallace, Sr., 66, of Albion, Michigan passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021.
David was born on June 8, 1954 to the late Elmer and Muriel Wallace in Albion, Michigan and was one of four children. David graduated high school in Albion and furthered his education by getting a journeyman certificate. He then moved on to employment with industries where he would use these skills learned.
David met his lifelong partner when he was just 16 years old. He and Georgette Swan married on August 26, 1972. Together, the two built a beautiful family for four strong boys.
David spent most of his early years working, being a loving husband and father to his four sons. In David's spare time, he loved to fish, mud bog, hunt and play pool. David had a passion for coins, which led him to become an avid coin collector, passed down from his own father. He continued this by making a tradition with his own four sons and his grandchildren. Every birthday and Christmas, the boys knew they'd get a special coin. Alongside his coin collection, David collected eagles and enjoyed muscle cars.
David had many friends, who called him Shorty. They all knew to clear the dance floor so he could do the Shorty Shuffle. David's sarcasm and silly sense of humor always put a smile on your face. If you ever needed a candy fix, David (Pop's) was the one to go to. He always had a stash of M&Ms and tootsie rolls (rollies).
David was a wonderful grandfather. Early in life, an accident took much of his mobility away. Still, he was a devoted grandfather to his 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
David is survived by his wife Georgette (Swan) Wallace; sons David Wallace, Jr. (Ronda Lautzenheiser) of Albion, MI, Gregory (Michelle) Wallace of Marshall, MI, Timothy (Karin) Wallace of Battle Creek, MI and Tyler Wallace (Kristine Wardwell) of Albion, MI; sister, Sue Cooper of Albion, MI; grandchildren Muriel and David III "G-Jo" Wallace, Maurice Ansley, Briana Eagan, Gregory and Jeremy Wallace, Caitlin Wallace, Haley Christoff, Nevaeh Edwards, Timothy Wallace, Jr., Tyler Jr., Jaden, Georgette, Kyler and Shyler Wallace. David was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Ansley and two sisters, Sharon Rice and Phyllis Cypret.
There will be a celebration of life at the home of one of David's sons, hosted by Tim and Greg Wallace. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages and memories may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
