Dewey Eugene Taylor of Richland, MI

Dewey, age 76, died Monday morning, July 1, 2019 at his residence and with his loving family at his side.

Dewey , the son of David C. and Junie (Stephens) Taylor, was born in Jewell Ridge, VA
and moved to this area in 1971. He served his Country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant with the Military Police. Dewey retired in 2001 after 30 years of faithful service as a Maintenance Electrician for Crown Vantage Company of Parchment, MI. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Post #6252 and #1527. Staying true to his southern roots, he loved listening to country music. He enjoyed watching old episodes of Star Trek, sports, and classic western movies. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Dewey was united in marriage to Kyong I. Kim in Seoul, Korea on August 23, 1968. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Kim; his daughter, Teresa J. (Mark) Kruger of Richland,; three sons, David G (Kelly) Taylor of Elkhart, IN, Brian S. (Karry) Taylor of Delton, MI and Daniel W. (Rebecca) Taylor of Richland; twelve precious grandchildren; four great grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Hicks of Caretta, WVA and Theresa Hicks of War, WVA. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.

Dewey's family will greet friends on Sunday, July 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89), Richland. The funeral to celebrate Dewey's life will be held on Monday, July 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. James L. Sparks, officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland with the United States Army Honor Guard bestowing military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dewey's honor may be directed to the Down Syndrome Association of Southwest Michigan, 223 Fulton Avenue Street East, # 124, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
