Dominga Ramos, age 93, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully, and went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her loving family on Friday morning, January 24, 2014. She was born in Charlotte, Texas on December 20, 1920, the loving daughter of Antonio and Felipa (Guerro) Trevino.
Dominga married Alfredo Ramos on January 1, 1940 and came to live in Michigan in1941, settling in Battle Creek in 1963. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a granddaughter & a grandson; two brothers and two sisters. Dominga is survived by her 13 children, sons, Alfredo (Georgie) Jr. of Mason, Michigan, Blas (Sue) of Kalamazoo, Roy of Battle Creek, Larry (Cynthia) of Bellevue, Jerry (Barbara), Gene and Juan, all of Battle Creek; daughters, Dominga (Rick) Conine, Olga (Alan) Peludat, Jo Ann (Charles) Banning, Nina (Leroy) Oliver, Cindy (Don) Hammond, all of Battle Creek and Sue (Randy) Smith of Kalamazoo; one sister, Simona Wesley of Seattle, Washington; 76 grandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren, and a whole slew of nieces & nephews. Mom says, "Hasta la vista baby, I love you all."
Dominga was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved staying home and raising her family. Dominga enjoyed crocheting, crafts, gardening, and especially playing BINGO.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate Dominga's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Dexter Lake Church of God. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Oaklawn Hospice.
