Donald Calvin "Don" Kleckner of Battle Creek MI

Don passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 10, 2017, in Battle Creek, MI.

He was born in Meadville, PA on November 24, 1942, the son of Calvin and Thelma (Andrews) Kleckner, Jr. Don was a 1961 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School. On June 23, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Alice Ann Panko and she sadly preceded him in death on January 15, 1985 after an extended battle with cancer.

Don's skills and passion for carpentry were put to good use as a self-employed contractor, building quality homes for many years, including his own. His next chapter in life led to the ownership and operation of Cozy Kitchens & Baths in Meadville, PA. After relocating to Michigan in 2004 to live closer to his children, Don continued the work he loved in the carpentry industry at The Kitchen Shop in Battle Creek, MI alongside many wonderful co-workers.

Don is survived by his children, Paula Kleckner of Kalamazoo, MI, Derick Kleckner of Raleigh, NC, Joanne (Tim) Angles of Waukesha, WI and Ronald Kleckner of Portage, MI; his grandchildren, Rebekah (Kevin) Ridgeway, Kayla Harvey, Alyssa Kleckner, Jared Kleckner, Nathan (Ashley) Angles, Justin Angles, Lauren Angles, Lindsay Angles, and Jeremy Angles; his two sisters, Rosalie Kangas and Louise (Duane) Taylor of Albion, PA and his brother, Philip (Juanita) Kleckner of Albion, PA. In addition to his wife, Alice Kleckner, he was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Koreen, in 1964, his mother, Thelma Andrews Kleckner in 2000, and his father, Calvin Kleckner, Jr. in 2003.

All are invited to attend Don's memorial gathering at First Wesleyan Church located at 14425 Helmer Road South in Battle Creek, MI on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM. There will also be visiting hours on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home at 306 Erie St. in Edinboro, PA from 1:00-3:00 with a service following at 3:00 PM. The family asks that memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek is assisting Don's family with his Battle Creek arrangements.
