Edith "Caroline" Hodgden

HODGDEN, EDITH CAROLINE JOHNSTON

6/25/1928 – 10/15/2024

Born in Donegal, Ireland to William and Mary Emily Johnston, she came to the United States on August 5, 1947. Caroline worked at Oliver Machinery, Clark Cortez and retired from Michigan National Bank in 1990. She married Roger Hodgden on November 27, 1999. He died February 1, 2001.

In recent years, Caroline resided at Mulberry Hill Senior Living, due to her limited vision. There she was cared for by Ellen Grove with the assistance of her staff.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roger; brother Hamilton Johnston (WWII, Sicily); sister, Olive and her husband David McCrabbe; brother, Aubrey and his wife Ida Johnston and brother-in-law George Sayers.

She is survived by her sister Beatrice Sayers and nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service to celebrate Caroline's life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, in the Chapel.  In her memory, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1911 W.
