Edward L. "Ed" "Big E" Whipple

Edward L. "Ed" "Big E" Whipple, Sr., age 59, of Augusta, tragically passed away unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Sunday morning, August 22, 2021. He was born in Battle Creek on May 30, 1962 the loving son of William W. and Helen Joy (Garrett) Whipple, Sr. and graduated with the Galesburg-Augusta High School class of 1981. Ed served as a truck driver for KMR and many other area companies for more than 30 years.

Ed is survived by his children, Edward (Rachel) Whipple, Jr. of Kalamazoo, Jessica (Dustin) Craigmyle of Battle Creek, Sheldon Whipple of Kalamazoo, and Nate (Sabrina) Whipple of Kalamazoo; his parents, William Sr. and Helen Joy; six grandchildren; his brother, Bill (Tammie) Whipple, Jr. of Galesburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shelby Whipple.

Ed was a member of the Otsego Moose Lodge # 345 and the Brotherhood of the Road Riding Club. He was always willing to help others in need or help others wrench on their bikes. An avid outdoorsman, Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and of course, riding his motorcycle and truly loved family get togethers.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25th at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel where funeral services to celebrate Ed's life will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26th. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Hope Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kinnley Memorial, checks made payable to Kathy Nelson, 12148 Fort Custer Drive, Galesburg, MI 49053.
