Edward S. Salat

Edward S. “Ed” Salat, age 75 of Kalamazoo passed away at home on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was born in Michigan City, Indiana on June 5, 1949, the son of Stanley and Margaret (Pavolka) Salat. Ed graduated from Purdue University and served his country for more than 6 years with the United States Army Reserves. He retired from Parker-Hannifin in 2016 after many years of service. Ed was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and enjoyed spending winters in Florida sunbathing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. 

Ed married Maryann (Wisnieski) Salat in Michigan City, Indiana on April 20, 1974; she sadly preceded him in death on July 9, 2021. He then married his wife, Sharon J. Salat in Lakeland, Florida on February 6, 2024; she survives. Ed is also survived by his children, Ryan (Sara) Salat of California, Evan (Kalyn) Salat of Indiana, and Erika (Jerry) Smith of Arizona; five grandchildren, Maddie, Cooper, Beckett, Felix, and Piper. 

At Ed’s request, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass to celebrate Ed and Maryann’s life will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the St. Ann Catholic Church, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Centrica Care Navigators (Hospice) www.centricacare.org.  Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel.
