Edwin G. Greenman Sr., 85, died at home on February 8, 2023 with everlasting love in his heart for his family and friends.
He was born October 9, 1937 to Lohman and Alma (Yunt) Greenman and was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1956 and began working at the Kellogg Company. After almost 40 years of service, he retired in 1996.
He married Anne (Smith) Greenman on May 9, 1959 at St. Philip Catholic Church and they have celebrated almost 64 years together.
Ed enjoyed playing golf and bowling in leagues for many years with his Kellogg friends. He volunteered at St. Philip when his children were in school for sports and other activities. Ed loved watching his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. You would find "Big Ed" sitting in his special seat on the 50-yard-line at every Harper Creek football game, where his son coached. He was also a fan of the University of Michigan and Notre Dame football teams.
For 25 years, the family enjoyed their cottage home in South Haven, where Ed was nicknamed the "Mayor of South Haven" by knowing everyone. He loved walking along the Lake Michigan beach and caring for the flowers on the river bridge, talking with his neighbors, and hosting many parties. After moving to their home on Goguac Lake, he enjoyed driving his pontoon boat for family and friends.
Ed is survived by his wife Anne Greenman, daughter Lorrie (Larry) Bentz, and sons Ed (Beth) Greenman Jr., and Todd (Caroline) Greenman; grandchildren Ashley (John Paul) Prebish, Morgan (Devan) Kline, Kevin Greenman (fiance', Aline Vargas), Jenna (Stephen) Gangi, Anna Greenman, Carrie Greenman, and Jack Greenman. He is also survived by Great Grandchildren Katherine and Thomas Prebish, Cameron, Maxwell, and Ryan Kline, and Gianna Gangi; his sisters-in-law Cathy (Todd) Erskine and Dorene Smith, brothers-in-law Rick (Lrenda) Smith and Tom Cobb, stepbrother Gene Greenman, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Mike Stevens, brothers-in-law Mike Smith and Pat Smith, and sister-in-law Janet Cobb.
