Eileen J. Lum

June 13, 1950 — February 11, 2024

Battle Creek

Eileen June Lum, 73, of Battle Creek, went to be with her Lord on February 11, 2024.  Eileen was born June 13, 1950 in Battle Creek to Charles and Betty (Hodgson) Masters.  She worked many jobs throughout her life including the Weston Biscuit Co, Kellogg Company, Hudson’s and Baker Bros Cleaners.  She enjoyed playing softball, shopping, dancing, cooking and was nuts about bowling.  But most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and friends.  Eileen had a great laugh, sense of humor and a wonderful way of making those around her feel good.  Through it all, she always saw the silver lining in life and when asked how she was doing she would answer enthusiastically “Excellente!”.  Eventually, that transitioned into giving two thumbs up and a big smile with her eyes!

Eileen, previously married to Jack A Buller, is survived by two children, Jason A Buller and Mindy (Dave) Ganka.  She is also survived by two grandchildren that she absolutely adored, Chloe and Chase Ganka; a dear brother, Paul (Lois) Masters; a niece, Leigh Masters (John); a great-niece, Zoe and many close extended family members which include Alice “Alzy” Nelson-Brown and family.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Rob” Lum, her parents and several close extended family members.

The family would like to share deepest gratitude to the incredible care by Debbie Williams and all the staff at Farleigh’s Senior Care Home.  The endless compassion and care made such a positive impact on her quality of life.  We are forever grateful for all of you.

An informal visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Feel free to celebrate Eileen by wearing bright colors or her favorite team MSU attire.  A private interment will be held at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com

As you walk forward in life, honor Eileen by taking time to compliment someone today!
