Elaine Kay Fitzgerald

Elaine Kay Fitzgerald, 78, of Battle Creek passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Elaine was born January 20, 1947 in Chicago to Edward and Anne (Tara) Poya. She was a die-hard Cubs fan and her motto was “Go Cubs Go!” She was a stay-at-home mom while raising her children and then became a teacher’s aide at their school. She loved animals and later went on to work for the Humane Society of South Central Michigan as the intake supervisor.

Elaine is survived by her sons, Brian (Jessica) Fitzgerald and James (Andrea) Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Kayleigh (Hailey) Fitzgerald, Taylor (Anthony) Fitzgerald, Chloe (Jay) Finn, Caleb (Annie) Haaga, Alex Haaga; great-grandchildren. Cayden, Grayson, Emelia, Nolan; brothers, Edward Poya and Rich Poya. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ronald Poya and James Poya.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church followed by a luncheon at the church.
