Eleanor L. Bouffard

Eleanor L. Bouffard, 95, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2019 with her family by her side at the Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on November 26, 1924, the loving daughter of Roy and Elvie (Beadles) Smith. Eleanor retired from the Federal Center in 1983 after more than 20 years of service with D.L.S.C. (Defense Logistics Service Center) in Washington D.C. and Battle Creek.

Eleanor married Francis E. "Frank" Bouffard in Silver Springs, Maryland on June 8, 1946; he sadly preceded her in death on August 30, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa (David) Brown and Sharon White, both of Battle Creek; her sons, Carl (Jackie) Bouffard, Roy (Debbie) Bouffard, both of Battle Creek, David (Denise) Bouffard of Augusta, and Paul (Teresa) Bouffard of Battle Creek; her son-in-law, John Keiser of Pennsylvania; her sister, Moneta Rowell; 17 grandchildren; and several great & great-great grandchildren. Eleanor was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Mary Keiser; and her sister, Oleta Fioramonti.

Eleanor was a member of both the St. Joseph Catholic Church & American Legion Post #298 Ladies Auxiliary for more than 50 years. Family was everything to Eleanor and she truly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers & gardening, cooking & baking, Sudoku & cross-word puzzles, reading, traveling & taking cruises, and of course her cats.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2019 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. A Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 61 N. 23rd Street, Battle Creek. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the American Legion Post #298 Ladies Auxiliary.
