Emma "Jean" Berry

Emma "Jean" Berry, age 91, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Monday morning, July 9, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Battle Creek on March 6, 1927, the daughter of John and Virginia "Virgie" (Robinson) Taylor. A great seamstress, Jean enjoyed sewing & crocheting, cooking, riding her bike, camping and spending time at the lake, but her true passion in life was spending time with her family.

Jean married the "Love of Her Life", Robert M. "Bob" Berry in Battle Creek on September 6, 1947; he sadly preceded her in death on May 16, 2006. She is survived by three daughters, Colleen (Bobby) Hopkins of Battle Creek, Brenda (Pete) Fenner of Allegan, and Yvonne Poole of Battle Creek; her son, Jerome "Jerry" Berry of Battle Creek; four grandchildren, Holly (Todd) Lee, Jessica Rayford, Brooke Harrington, and Cameron Berry; six great-grandchildren, John Samples, Crystal Samples, Justin Vinton, Raevon Rayford, Rakayla Rayford, and RaMya Rayford; two great-great grandchildren, Xavier Smith, KyLynn Merrell; and her brother, Duane (Marsha) Taylor. Jean was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Taylor; her sister, Virginia Confer; and one big dog, "Smokey".

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 16, 2018 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where funeral services to celebrate Jean's life will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, would be appreciated.
