Evelyn G. Nogrady

Evelyn Grace (Berge) Nogrady, 95, of Battle Creek, passed away on Monday evening, January 28, 2013 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 1, 1917 the daughter of Harald and Cora (Enger) Berge. Evelyn was raised in Marshall and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. She worked at Central Electric and Haughey Black & Assoc. Architecture. Evelyn volunteered at Percy Jones General Hospital and as a literacy mentor.
Evelyn was married to the Leslie J. Nogrady for forty-seven years. She leaves her son, Michael and his wife Mariann; her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nicholas; her sister, Ann Harris; her sisters-in-law, Jean Berge and Nancy Stark; her dear friend, Carol Campbell and many loving nieces & nephews and their children. Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband in 1989; and siblings, Clara Nairn, Richard Berge, Hazel Waltz, Lucile Loye, Kenneth Berge and Barbara Johnson.
Evelyn was a lifelong fan of aviation and rode in a WWII training plane at age eighty. She loved duplicate bridge, where she made many friends, and she played golf at Marywood Golf Club.
Friends will be received 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, with Rev. Robert Zuhl, officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek.
