Floyd E. Snyder, Comstock Township (Kalamazoo, MI)
Floyd, age 70, died Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Laurels of Galesburg, MI and with his loving family at his side.
Floyd, the son of Perry O. and Maude S. (Curtis) Snyder, was born on June 7, 1943 in Ross Township of Kalamazoo County, MI. He retired in 2011 after 12 years of faithful service at the Sav-A-Lot Store in Kalamazoo, where he had held numerous positions including Co-Manager of the meat department. He was a member of the Kalamazoo Covenant Church; an active member of both the Christian Motorcyclist Association and the Old Irons Motorcycle Club of Schoolcraft, MI and raced at both the Kalamazoo and Galesburg Speedways. He was friend to everyone and anyone he ever met and would help them with anything!
On August 28, 1976 in Delton, MI, Floyd was united in marriage to the former Jo Ann O'Dell and she preceded him in death on September 30, 2010. Surviving are three daughters, Lynsdey R. (Theresa) Snyder of Wayland, MI; Wendy L. Like of Parchment, MI and Angela S. (Randy) "Angie" Bryant of Kalamazoo; his son, Elmer S. Snyder of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Jeffry Like, Brittney Tucker, Courtney Warner and Elizabeth Like; his great grandson, Jayden Michael; a sister, June Watson of Delton; a brother, Perry "Bill" Snyder of Kalamazoo; closest friends, Stuart Jordan of Plainwell, MI and Editha Phelps of Portage, MI; several nieces and nephews and his former wife, Bette P. Snyder of Kalamazoo. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eric M. Snyder; a grandson, Justin D. Snyder; his sister, Mina Snyder and his closest friend, John Dean, a friend since age 15, who died two weeks ago.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Floyd's life will be held on Saturday, October 26th at Noon at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89) with the Rev. David O. Beetham, Pastor of the Kalamazoo Covenant Church, officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment along with his beloved wife, Jo Ann will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Floyd's honor may be directed to the family in care of Omni Community Credit Union of Kalamazoo, MI.
