Frederic K. "Fred" Hyde, 86, of Battle Creek, died May 13, 2017. Fred was born October 17, 1930 in Central Lake, MI to Stanley and Gertrude (Whittingham) Hyde. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degrees in Theology and History and served the Seventh-Day Adventist Church as an Ordained Pastor for many years.
Fred married Barbara J. Caster, on September 12, 1954, who survives. The couple enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Also surviving are their three children, Aileen Hyde, Kenneth Hyde and Bruce (Carol) Hyde; grandchildren, Nathan (Stephanie) Hyde, Bethany (Jonathan) Geraci, Angelia (Kevin) Meier, Melody (Leighton) Sjören, Timothy Hyde, Stanley Hyde, William Hyde, Julia Hyde and Lindsay Hyde and great-grandchildren, Colt Hyde, Heidi Geraci, Anabel Hyde and Eric Geraci.
Fred was preceded in death by his brother, William Hyde, and a granddaughter, Esther Hyde.
Fred enjoyed studying history and theology and researching genealogies. He also liked woodworking, gardening and travel. In recent years, no longer able to preach a sermon, he continued to live a convincing sermon by his kind and thoughtful life.
A service to celebrate Fred's life will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle, officiated by Pastor Bruce Moore and Pastor Rob Benardo. Visitation will be one hour prior, starting at 2:30 p.m. A separate interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.
