Gerry E. Hammock

Gerry E. Hammock, age 80 of Battle Creek passed away Monday evening, September 18, 2023 at Bronson Battle Creek.  He was born in Battle Creek on December 3, 1942, the son of Amos Levi and Eleanor Wygant (Hammock) and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1961.  Gerry faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and retired from Post Cereals after more than 37 years.  

Gerry is survived by his son, Gary Hammock of Battle Creek; his grandchildren, Melissa (Luke) Wells, Gage Hammock, Cole Hammock and Leigha Fuller; his great-grandchildren, Isabella and Loki Wells; and his dog, “Vinny”.  He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Hammock in 2012; his parents; and brothers and sisters, Don Hammock, Bud Hammock, Richard Hammock, Joan Dishman and Debbie Hammock.

Gerry’s grandchildren truly were his whole world, and he loved every moment spent with them.  He also enjoyed being in nature, riding his bike, walking the Riverside Loop of the Linear Path, and sitting outside looking at the stars.  Gerry had a very giving heart and loved quietly helping others in need.  He was a member of the Post 25-Year Club and the Minges Creek Athletic Club.
