Gertrude Mae (Truman) "Trudy" Bartlett of Bellevue, MI








Trudy, age 87, died Friday morning, December 19, 2014 at her residence and following a brief illness.


Trudy, the daughter of Vern and Dorothy (Overacker) Truman, was born on November 7, 1927 in Battle Creek, MI; she was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Bellevue High School. She was employed at H.B. Sherman Manufacturing of Fort Custer during World War II and met her husband, Stan, when he was mustered out of the military at Fort Custer. Trudy retired in 1996 after 28 years of faithful employment as a Machinist for the Maeward Coupling Company of Olivet, MI. She was an avid gardener tending and nurturing her flowers and being known as the "Iris Lady;" enjoyed landscaping; always taking pictures of planes in the clouds and of course, spoiling her cats.


Trudy was united in marriage to Stanley C. "Stan" Bartlett on June 15, 1946 in Battle Creek and he sadly preceded her in death on April 3, 2010 after 63 years of marriage. Surviving is her daughter, Susan M. (Dennis) Janousek of Apache Junction, AZ/Bellevue; three sons, Dennis A. (Karen) Bartlett and Thomas C. (Faye) Bartlett, both of Bellevue and Larry L. (Terry) Bartlett of Ridgway, CO; nine grandchildren, Dana, Lauri, Brad, Denelle, Mary, Clint, Jordan, Erin and Ashlyn; sixteen great grandchildren; her step-father, Alfred (Darlene) Cook of Delton, MI and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Truman-Taggert of Battle Creek. Trudy was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Al Truman.


The Funeral Service to celebrate Trudy's life will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Bellevue United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, 122 West Capital Avenue, with the Rev. Peggy Baker, Pastor, officiating. Trudy's life celebration will continue with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the Service in the Church's Social Hall. The Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek. Trudy's family will greet friends on Monday, December 22nd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek.
