Glen Albert Stevens, Sr., 89 of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully at home with his family at his side on Saturday, August 14, 2021.
Glen was born December 20, 1931 in Eckford Township, Michigan the son of Roscoe C. and Bernice L. (Holt) Stevens and was a 1951 graduate of Bellevue High School. Glen worked for the City of Battle Creek for twenty-five years, in the Water Department. He was lovingly known as the Working Foreman, when he retired in 1992. Retirement did not suit him well, so, back to work he went for Spartan Foods Store. Glen continued to work, until he was eighty.
Glen was united in marriage to Vera M. Seiler in 1953. The union produced four children, all surviving. Glen A. Stevens Jr. of Radcliff, Kentucky; Grace M. (Stevens) Yeo, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Dennis E. Stevens, of Fontana, California; Timothy J. Stevens, of Battle Creek, Michigan; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert L. Stevens of Battle Creek, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Glen's marriage to Vera ended in divorce in 1960. Glen was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Stevens, Ray Stevens, James Stevens; and two sisters, Arlene (Stevens) Wight, and Marjorie (Stevens) Service. Glen married Judith M. Schaffhouser June 29, 1973. Judith preceded Glen in death on October 20, 2003.
Glen joined the Masonic Temple, Battle Creek Lodge #12 in 1976. There he received the Title of Past Master four times. He also joined the Order of the Eastern Star, and was Past Patron several times. Glen's hobbies included model railroads, watching sports and reading, especially westerns. Glen will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 20th and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21st at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where funeral services to celebrate Glen's life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
