Gordon C. "Gordy" Bishop Jr., age 69, of Battle Creek, passed in peace on his new journey on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his home. He had recently undergone therapy for Cancer where his best friend and companion, Donald Shive, cared for him while he was undergoing treatment with his Cancer battle. Gordy was born in Battle Creek on November 5, 1949 to Barbara J. (Brown) Bishop and Gordon Bishop, Sr., who are both deceased. He is survived by his brother, Randy Bishop and sister-in-law, JB Balash-Bishop; aunts; cousins and many friends.
Gordy attended Springfield Schools and lived in Battle Creek most of his life. He worked at many area restaurants in Battle Creek and had worked the last 19 years at Davis Oil before retiring. Gordy was a member of the First Wesleyan Church and Sons of the American Legion Squadron # 298. He enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers, Michigan football and the Detroit Red Wings. Gordy could recite every players' stats at any given minute and was always full of a hundred questions. He had a kind heart and a good soul.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Gordy's life will be held 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the American Legion Post #298, 228 North 20th Street, Battle Creek. Please join our family and friends and share some fond memories of Gordy. Entombment will be held privately at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
