Harold "Steve" Ronning, age 60, of Battle Creek sadly passed away on Wednesday morning, March 3, 2021. He was born in Battle Creek on May 30, 1960, the son of Paul Ronning and Shelba Burdick (Davis). Steve attended Battle Creek Public Schools and graduated from Knox High School in Knox, Indiana. Steve proudly served his country as a LCPL in the United States Marine Corps until his Medical Retirement on December 19, 1981. He continued to serve his country and his comrades as a volunteer with the Paralyzed Veterans of America organization, and with the Oscar Brady American Legion Post #298 and its very dedicated group of Legion Riders.
Steve is survived by his brothers & sisters, David (Jae) Ronning, Melissa (Clair) Hatmaker, Michael Ronning, Debbie (Russ) Cox, and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shelba Dean Burdick, father, Paul Ronning, a sister, Becky Berry; and his grandparents, Harold and Merldean Davis.
Steve was very proud of his service in the Marine Corps and truly loved spending time with his Marine buddies, his family and his many friends. He also enjoyed hunting, Marvel comics & movies, watching sports and was an avid Detroit Lions fan. Most recently, his greatest passion has been playing an active role with the American Legion Post #298 Legion Riders and helping out at as many events and veteran funeral flag lines as he could.
Semper Fi Marine!
