Helen G. (Draminski) Borsum

Helen G. (Draminski) Borsum, 89, of Battle Creek died peacefully, but unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Helen was born July 26, 1935, in Ludington, Michigan. She grew up in Chase, Michigan and was a graduate of Reed City High School. Helen attended Michigan State University and earned her associates degree from Davenport College in Grand Rapids. She was employed in Ann Arbor as an executive secretary to the director of U of M Radio and TV Studios. In 1959, she moved to Battle Creek with her husband Jerry and was the office manager for her husband, Dr. Jerry C. Borsum, DDS and her daughter, Dr. Sharon Dickerson, DDS from 1959-2000.

Helen Gertrude Draminski and Jerry Carl Borsum were united in marriage on August 20, 1955. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry on May 25, 2012. Surviving are their children, James (Deborah) Borsum of Chicago, Steven Borsum of Marshall, Dr. Sharon Dickerson, DDS of Denver, CO, Susan Mott of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Carly Dickerson, Casey Klein, Aaron Borsum, Erica Borsum, Lydia Eusebio, Philip Mott and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Jerry, Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Sophia Draminski.

Helen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She completed a Ministry Formation Course, served as a Eucharist Minister and Minister to the sick for several years. She also served with her husband in the Marriage Discovery Program. During the 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s she was active in the Pennfield Booster Club. Helen was previously an active and sustaining member of the Junior League of Battle Creek. She worked with connecting children to the Make-A-Wish of Michigan program and volunteered with the former Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary. She was a past president of the SW Michigan Dental Auxiliary and of the Women’s Social Club of Battle Creek. She loved time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen also enjoyed spending time in their family cabin on the Pier Marquette River in Northern Michigan. Helen will be remembered for her outgoing, fun-loving personality who made others feel special. She was passionate about flowers, plants and gardening. She was also an excellent Bridge player known for her skilled strategic play.

Friends will be received 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Fr. Christopher Ankley at St. Joseph Catholic Church 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025. Committal and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
