Hilda M. Warnes

Hilda May (Damren) Warnes, 86, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully on June 4, 2013 at her home, with her family at her side. She had battled leukemia for several years.
Hilda was born in Adrian, Michigan on October 27, 1926, the daughter of Clayton E. and Leona L (Philo) Damren. She married Tom Warnes on March 28th, 1944 in Byron, OH. They remained married for 61 years, until Tom's death in 2005. Hilda worked for several years, most notably at Krum's Photography, before starting a family in 1960.
Hilda is survived by her children, Kerri (JB) Taylor of Battle Creek and Tom (Susan) Warnes of Tampa, FL, as well as four grandchildren, Becki, Lisa, Ashley, Alex and six great-grandchildren. She also has two living siblings, Bill Damren of Battle Creek and Ilah (Robert) Karol of Manchester, N J.
Hilda loved her home on Crandall Road, where she and Tom moved with their children in 1964. Her wish was to remain there until death, which she was able to accomplish through care provided by her daughter Kerri, and support from Hospice. She will be deeply missed.
Hilda loved her family, her flowers and watching the birds.
A private family service will be held and she will be interred next to her husband Tom at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Michigan, 1471 E. 12 Mile Rd., Madison Heights, MI, 48071 or the Humane Society, 2500 Watkins Rd, Battle Creek, MI 49015. Arrangements are by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.
