Imogene Marie Lick, 94, went home to be with her Lord on January 25, 2023, at the home of her daughter. She was born on August 6, 1928, as the youngest daughter to Glen and Gertrude Gates at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan, and graduated in 1946 from Kellogg Agricultural High School.
On June 16, 1946, she married Mack Lick, Jr., and they were married for 47 years until his death in 1994. Imogene worked for the Clark Equipment Company for 34 years with most of her time spent as supervisor of the billing department.
After retiring in 1983, she began volunteering her time to keep her mind active and to use her God-given abilities to help make a difference in the lives of others. Her volunteer service included 10 years in the blood services area of the American Red Cross, 5 years at the Volunteer Bureau as the "senior connection" mailing coordinator, 9 years at the Bibles for Missions Thrift Center, and 3 years at the Battle Creek Health System in both the outpatient endoscopy registration area and the gift shop.
Surviving and greatly loved are her two children, Judy (Gary) Huffman and Rick Taylor. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Gregg (Jennifer) Huffman, Lisa (Mike) Goldin, Mackenzie Taylor-Berger, and Jeff (Chelsea) Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Daniel Goldin, Nicholas Taylor, Tanner Taylor, Aubrey Taylor, Brayden Berger, and Madison Berger and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack; her mother, father, step-father, Forrest Smith; her sister, Bernita Prianto; and three brothers, Kenneth Gates, Bernard Gates, and Forrest Smith, Jr.
Imogene enjoyed volunteering and being with her family. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in her 30s. If asked what the greatest desire in her life was it would be for others to know and accept the truths of John 3:16 and know the love of her Lord Jesus Christ.
Imogene's celebration of life service will be held at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek on Monday, January 30th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Harry Borsheim, officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Since it is a celebration, she requested that those attending wear bright colors. In lieu of flowers, her desire was for donations to be made to the Haven Life Recovery Programs in Battle Creek. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
