Jack Clarence Taylor, 87, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023.
Jack was born to Georgia and Clarence Taylor on February 15, 1936 in Rio Grande City, Texas. Jack joined the service in 1955 and serving his country became the honor of his life, dying on Memorial Day a fitting tribute.
Jack’s life revolved around family and friends. On September 21, 1991, he married the love of his life, Ida Landers-Garrett. Together, they resided in Puryear, Tennessee as owners/operators of Taylor Bar & Grill. Many students at Murray State University adopted him as a surrogate dad. He returned their appreciation tenfold.
Jack was blessed with stepchildren and many grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Dunithan and brother, Raymond “Frog” Taylor. He is survived by his wife, sisters, Karen Hite and Sue Lynn McComb and best friend, Bud Garrett.
Jack’s family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel.
