Jacquelyn "Jackie" M. Moore, of Battle Creek, went to sleep in Jesus at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 17, 2016 after dealing for over a year with a brain tumor which was first confirmed in early March of last year. She was 66 years of age.
Born February 4, 1950 in the family home in Hamburg, Michigan to Bill & Barbara (Wilson) Schenk, Jackie lived in a number of cities in Michigan and graduated from Adelphian Academy in Holly, Michigan in 1968.
She attended Andrews University and started out pursuing a degree in education in order to become a teacher, but then switched her studies to Nursing after becoming engaged to Bruce Moore, a ministerial student who she met while enrolled at Andrews. She then went to the Hinsdale School of Nursing where she earned her L.P.N. nursing degree and one month later on January 10, 1971 they were married and she joined her husband in Wisconsin where he was working as a pastor. In 1986 while living in Olympia, Washington, she went back to school after her children reached school age and obtained her license as a R. N. or Registered Nurse. Along with working as a mother, homemaker and 23 years as a nurse (primarily at nights) she was actively involved with her husband in their work as a pastoral couple for 43 years. She worked with him in 18 churches, 11 cities and 5 states over the years. In 2003 she & her husband came back to Battle Creek where her husband, Bruce, had grown up and they served for 11 years as the lead pastoral couple with the Battle Creek Tabernacle Seventh-day Adventist Church until 2014 when her husband retired. She was a kind, humble, sincere, Bible believing Christian and faithful in following her Savior, Jesus Christ.
In 1998, when her father had a heart attack and could no longer care for his wife, Jackie quit nursing and started 17 years of being the primary care giver for her grandmother, mother, and then her husband's mother, who each in turn, moved in with her along with an aunt who she cared for as well. Jackie liked people. She was easy going, an excellent cook, and enjoyed a wide variety of activities. She loved sewing & embroidery work, crafts & needlepoint, reading, yard work, music, animals and especially her cats, as well as feeding and providing nests for backyard birds. She really enjoyed travel, camping and canoeing (especially the family's annual week-long canoe trips to northwest Minnesota's Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness). But most of all, above everything else she looked forward to visiting and spending time with her children, Randy (in Tennessee) and Lori (in Minnesota), and especially her two grandchildren, Cooper & Samantha (in Tennessee).
Surviving her is Bruce Moore, her husband of 45 years; one son, Randy (Tami) Moore of Cleveland, TN, and their two precious grandchildren, Cooper and Samantha Moore; one daughter, Lori Moore of Brooklyn Center, MN; three brothers, Neil (Pat) Schenk of Delta Junction, AK, Bob (Doda) Stuart of Lake Forrest, CA, and Paul (Tracy) Stuart of Homestead, FL. Also Virginia Moore, her Mother-in-law of Battle Creek and a host of nieces and nephews who she loved and spent time with over the years.
