James T. "Jim" Greene

James T. "Jim" Greene, Sr., age 71, of Bellevue passed away Thursday afternoon, May 20, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Millington, Tennessee on January 8, 1950, the son of Thomas and Aggie (Pennycuff) Greene. Jim faithfully served as a Sergeant, Paratrooper, and Army Ranger in the United States Army, 82nd & 101st Airborne and received the Purple Heart, and three (two with Valor) Bronze Stars. Jim retired after more than 24 years as a Master Electrician.

Jim married the "Love of His Life", Brenda Vaughn in Gallatin, Tennessee on July 13, 1970; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Jimmy (Robin) Greene and John (Pam) Lacey; his grandchildren, Alysa (Cole) Clines, Bre (Austin Douglas) Greene, and John Luke Lacey; his great-grandkids, Millie and Aggie; his brother, Hollis (Ruth) Greene; and many nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, cousins and close friends.

Jim was proud of his service and was a member of the Military Order of Purple Heart, American Legion Post #54, the Golden Brigade and the 82nd Airborne Division. Family meant everything to Jim and he loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and always made sure everyone got their "special" golf cart ride. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his garden & farm animals, spending time with his buddies, and cookouts with friends and family.

The family will receive friends 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where funeral services to celebrate Jim's life will be held 12:00 noon, Wednesday, May 26th.
