James T. "Tommy" Robbins

On November 23, 2020, James T. "Tommy" Robbins, a loving husband & father, went to be with the Lord at the age of 88. He was born on February 1, 1932 in Crawford, TN to Dallas and Emma Robbins. At a young age, Jim worked in the coal mines of Tennessee and then enlisted in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant First Class. Jim then came to Michigan where he met Judith Ludlow and on February 19, 1955, they were married. He worked at the UpJohn Farms and then went on to his "Dream Job" of 37 years as a Senior Grounds Keeper at Brook Lodge, part of the UpJohn Co. Jim loved to fish, hunt, garden, and raise Beagles. He was known for his quick wit & sense of humor.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jackie and Paul Robbins; sisters, Bernice Garrett, Betty Richfield, Treva Rhodes and Lois Woodall; son-in-law, Harold Harp; and grandson, Cody Robbins. He is survived by his wife Judith; his children, Brenda Harp, Danny (Dawn) Robbins, Randy (Robin) Robbins, Ricky (Donna) Robbins, Cindy (Rich) Spieth; and siblings, Mary Thompson and Herman Robbins. Jim also has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, whom he loved.
The family will receive friends with a walk-thru visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 27th at the Farley Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Augusta Chapel. A private family service will follow at 11:30 a.m. The service will be recorded and may be viewed by visiting www.farleyestesdowdle.com later in the day, where you may also leave messages for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the Residence Council at the Alamo Nursing Home, would be appreciated.
