Janet Elaine Hepler

Janet Elaine Hepler, age 66, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday morning, March 14, 2013. She was born in Battle Creek on January 24, 1947 the daughter of Ralph E. and Betty P. (Hutchins) Thorpe and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1965. Janet retired from Sears & Co. in 2008 after more than 20 years of faithful service.
Janet is survived by her mother, Betty Thorpe of Battle Creek; 2 sons, Gregory (Becky) Moore of Athens and Todd (Cyndie) Moore of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren, Sara, Bryan and Kyle Moore; 2 brothers, Dennis and Thomas Thorpe, both of Battle Creek and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Thorpe.
A genuine example of Christianity, Janet loved her church, helping others in need and spreading God's word. She was a member of the Gracespring Bible Church in Richland where she was truly dedicated to the Greeter Ministry. Janet loved spending time with her family, gardening, all types of flowers and her dogs.

At the request of the family, they will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Funeral services to celebrate Janet's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Gracespring Bible Church 8643 Gull Road, Richland with Pastor Howie Ohman, officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek. Memorials directed to the Gateway for Cancer Research or the Humane Society of South Central Michigan would be appreciated.
