Jason John McCormick, age 45, of Springfield tragically passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 22, 2019. He was born in Battle Creek on May 14, 1974, the son of Michael "Mike" and Glenda (Rexford) McCormick and graduated from Lakeview High School with the Class of 1992. Jason worked at the Kellogg Co. for more than 15 years, was previously employed at Hayes Lemmerz, and was a member of the BCTGM Local 3G Union.
Jason is survived by his mother, Glenda Rexford of Augusta; his brother, Christopher "Chris" (Tracy) McCormick of Maryland; a niece, Maya; three nephews, Madden, Hunter, and Kasey; his step-mother, Mary McCormick; step-sisters, Misty (Kasey Putman) Shaydik and Elizabeth (Trent) Brooks; an aunt, Virginia (Gary) Kushto; an uncle, Richard (Cynthia) Meyer; cousins, Jennifer, Heather, Todd, William and many special friends. He was sadly preceded in death by his dad, Mike on August 6, 2012; his grandparents; an aunt and an uncle.
An adventurous soul, Jason truly loved being outdoors fishing on his boat, remodeling his home and building things. He also was a cigar connoisseur, and enjoyed collecting coins and silver, building firearms, RC Cars, gaming & building computers, tinkering & learning how things work, and spending time with his family, especially his niece and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2019 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where funeral services to celebrate Jason's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2019 with Fr. John D. Fleckenstein, officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the American Heart Association.
