Jeanette Alice (Scholten) Campbell

Jeanette Alice (Scholten) Campbell, age 99 of Battle Creek passed away peacefully to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Farleigh’s Senior Care Home, Michigan House after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure and Dementia. Jeanette was born in Muskegon, Michigan on October 8, 1925, the daughter of Henry J. and Mary (Boukamp) Scholten. She was frequently called “Nettie” by her sisters when she was a little girl as they couldn’t say her name Jeanette.

On May 17, 1946, Jeanette was united in marriage to William G. “Bill” Campbell at her father’s home in Grand Rapids; he preceded her in death on June 11, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Jean Zinke-Wagner; her grandson, William Z. Zinke; her parents; and her sisters, Gertrude Eisenga, Ann Nelson and Jessie Schultz. Jeanette is survived her daughter, Judith Kay (Leo) Campbell-Rootes of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jerome) Walliczek of Climax, MI and Eric Zinke of Battle Creek; her great-grandchildren, Max, Christian and Gabriel Walliczek, Evan and Kelsyn Zinke; her brother, Jacob Scholten of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeanette’s love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was central to her life. She would be found most Sundays at Central Christian Church in Battle Creek where she was a member for many years.

Jeanette was employed by the Kellogg Company for 36 ½ years as a Head Belt Inspector and retired in 1986. She was a member of the Grain Millers Local 3 in Battle Creek and the Kellogg 25-Year Club.

In her spare time, Jeanette enjoyed spending time with her family traveling the USA in a motorhome with her husband Bill, reading and studying her Bible and attending Senior Care Partners, Senior exercise class.

Jeanette was a special treasure to her family and friends, was very well loved and will be missed by all! The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2025 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek. Funeral services to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Central Christian Church, 713 Riverside Dr. Battle Creek, MI 49015. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
