Jeanne Marie (Johnson) Grise

Jeanne Marie (Johnson) Grise, age 40, of Battle Creek, died peacefully at her home, ending her courageous battle with cancer on Sunday morning, April 28, 2013. She was born in Battle Creek on August 23, 1972 the loving daughter of Ken and Marilu (Calcatera) Johnson. Jeanne graduated from Pennfield High School with the Class of 1990 and furthered her education at Ferris State University. She served for many years as the Billing Manager at Southern Michigan Orthopedics. Jeanne ran her own child care business for several years, making a living loving other people's children as her own.

Jeanne married the Love of her Life, Patrick A. "Rick" Grise at the St. Philip Roman Catholic Church on May 25, 1996; he survives. She is also survived by her beautiful daughter, Samantha Marie Grise; her father, Ken Johnson; her sisters, Jackie (Dennis) Garoutte and Jill (Eric) Petersen; her brothers, Mike Johnson and Scott (Sheri) Johnson; her nieces & nephews, Ashlee, Jeff, Ericka (Evan), Chelsey (Travis), Jana, Brittany, Brandon, Grant, Ryne; special relatives, Charles & Julie Grise, John & Linda Grise, Corky Miller, and lots of wonderful & special friends. Jeanne was sadly preceded in death by her mother, Marilu Johnson on February 6, 2003.

Jeanne was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, was always one to put others first in her life and was truly an amazing inspiration to so many. She was the best mom, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend anyone could ever ask for. She enjoyed playing softball, coaching youth sports, learning to garden, reading a good book, weekend get-a-ways with her girlfriends and photography. Jeanne holds a special place in the hearts of many people across the world.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 and 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Reverend Fr. Mark J. Vyverman, V.F., Pastor, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends will continue Jeanne's life celebration with a time of fellowship and luncheon at the St. Joseph School Cafeteria immediately following the committal service.
