Jerry Duane Swagler, 50, of Hickory Corners, died at his mother's home on Monday, January 6, 2013.
He was born November 23, 1963, to Travis Stanton and Donna Jean (Cramer) Swagler in Battle Creek, MI. He was a lifelong Hickory Corners resident and was a 1982 graduate of Gull Lake High School. Jerry was employed as a manager at Dockmaster in Richland, MI, where he worked since his junior year in high school.
Surviving are his mother, Donna Jean Swagler of Hickory Corners, two brothers, Jon Tipton Swagler of Galesburg, James Allen (Ginger) Swagler of Battle Creek; a niece Haley Swagler; a nephew, Benjamin Swagler; two uncles, Earl (Evelyn) Cramer of Hickory Corners, Kenneth (Madeline) Cramer of Kalamazoo; and two aunts, Pauline (Al) Hoadley of Covert and Nancy Cramer of Delton. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Travis on August 20, 2012; and an uncle, Milton Cramer.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, his dog, Dutchess and he especially loved spending time with his niece and nephew, Haley and Ben. While in high school he played varsity basketball, football and track. Jerry was a very kind and generous person who will be greatly missed.
A memorial gathering to remember Jerry will be held 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083.
