Joann May (Hickey) Beal

JoAnn May (Hickey) Beal, 86, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022.

She was born February 25, 1936 in Grand Rapids to Chris and Jo Jacobs. She was a 1954 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and attended Argubright Business College. JoAnn owned and operated Abbey's People Model & Talent Agency for 15 years. Her passion was gardening, as well as movies, jazz music, theatre and traveling, but most of all, her large circle of treasured friends!

JoAnn was united in marriage to Richard Hickey on January 8, 1955. He preceded her in death in 1979. On October 15, 1983, she married James Beal who preceded her in death in 2004.

Joann is survived by her children, Richard (Nancy) Hickey, Gregory (Pam) Hickey, Christopher (Debra) Hickey, Krista Beal and Elizabeth (Rob) Kinsey; grandchildren, Richard Hickey, Patrick Hickey, Abby Hickey, Brittany Hickey, Alexis Hickey, Brandon Miner, Phoenix Eldridge, Jack Hostetler, Thomas Kinsey, Luke Kinsey, Noah Kinsey, Cameron Beal, Timothy Beal, Heather Beal and six great-grandchildren.

Per JoAnn's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate JoAnn's life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home (105 Capital Ave. NE). A luncheon after the service will be announced at that time. Donations in JoAnn's memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
