John Wallace Hreha of Battle Creek, MI
John, age 83, died Friday evening, July 29, 2016 at Bronson @ Home Hospice Residence, Battle Creek.
John, the son of John and Helen Hreha, was born in Scranton, PA on February 7, 1933; graduated high school in Scranton, PA and moved to this area in the early 1950's. He served his country honorably and nobly as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force for 20 years and serving during the Vietnam War. John retired from the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center of Battle Creek as a Programmer Specialist after 20 years of faithful service. He dedicated his life to his wife, Alice and sons by working at times three jobs to provide for his family.
John was united in marriage to Alice G. (nee: Eberhard) in the Fort Custer Chapel, Battle Creek on January 11, 1952 and she sadly preceded him in death on December 8, 2009. Surviving are two sons, Joseph L. Hreha of Carrollton, TX and David W. Hreha of Battle Creek; three precious granddaughters, Krista (Ben) Brown, Lindsey Lucas and Jami Hreha and three great grandchildren, Jonathon, Alexis and Alissa Jo. John was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, John "Chris" Hreha in 2010 and his brother, Bill Hreha.
The Graveside Service to celebrate John's life will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. There will be no visitation and the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, is assisting John's family with his arrangements.
