Joyce West, age 85, of Battle Creek passed away Friday morning, June 18, 2021. She was born in Meriden, Connecticut, attended Meriden High School and graduated with a communications degree from Boston College. Joyce worked at IBM in West Hartford, CT until she moved to Michigan. While in Michigan, she worked for Well's Chiropractic and Circle West Realty.
Joyce married Don West in Meriden, Connecticut and they were married for 53 years until his death on July 13, 2015. She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Dustin) Fox; her two grandchildren, Paige and Kyle Fox; as well as her beloved canine companion, Tyke.
Joyce had many diverse interests. She was president of American Business Women's Association (ABWA), Women's National Farm and Garden, and the Pennfield Band Boosters. She devoted herself to fundraising events with Pennfield Exchange Club and was involved in Pennfield Township Government.
Joyce played tennis, bowled, and snowmobiled for many years. She and her husband Don enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean. She loved to crochet as evidenced by the numerous afghans, hats, scarfs, and mittens she created for friends and wore during colder weather.
Joyce's greatest passion was dogs. She moved to Michigan with her dog "JoJi", and from that time forward, she was never without at least one dog. The dogs that she and Don welcomed into their home were all strays before they hit the canine lottery, joining the West "Pack".
