Kathleen Ann (Galloup) Dils, 67, of Holland, MI died unexpectedly at home on Monday, November 2, 2015.
Kathleen was born November 15, 1947 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Robert Andrew and Mary Margaret "Mig" (Dugan) Galloup. She grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1965 graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central. Kathleen attended Maryville College in St. Louis, MO, Western Michigan University and received her Registered Nursing Degree from Schoolcraft College in Livonia. Kathleen was employed as a Registered Nurse at the University of Michigan Hospital, Garden City Hospital, Ford Motor Company, a Detroit area Hospice and at Freedom Village in Holland.
Kathleen was formerly married to Randy Barr and they had two daughters. Surviving are her husband, Gary A. Dils of Holland; two daughters, Jeannie (Scott) Withington of Cumming, GA, Emilie Barr Mena of Howell, MI; seven grandchildren, Claire, Jack, Charlie, Michael and Patrick Withington, and Joseph and Gabrielle Mena; her mother, Mary Margaret "Mig" Galloup of Battle Creek; four sisters, Ellen E. (Dennis) Faurot of Kalamazoo, Lucie (John Weston) Galloup of Suttons Bay, Mary Frances (Clayton Force) Galloup of Battle Creek, Michelle Galloup Ferree of Tampa, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, Bob Galloup.
Kathleen was a member of Resurrection Life Church in Holland. She was a member of Alcoholic Anonymous, and later went on to speak about her journey and mentor others in their recovery. She was an avid reader, enjoyed being outside, especially on Lake Michigan. Kathleen went out of her way to help others in need. She loved to cook and was famous for her "Mimi Cookies" and more than anything else she took pride in being "Mimi" to her grandchildren and spending time with them.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. John D. Fleckenstein 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
