Kathleen E. Womack

Kathleen Ellen Womack, 72, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born October 19, 1941 in Detroit, MI to Maxwell and Edith (Pajot) Abbott. Kathleen moved to Battle Creek with her family in the early 1950's. She was a 1959 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School; raised her family; then attended Kellogg Community College and received her bachelor's degree in Education from Michigan State University. Kathleen retired from the Battle Creek Public Schools as an elementary teacher. She taught at several of the local elementary schools including McKinley School.
Kathleen married Charles C. Womack on June 6, 1959 in Battle Creek. Surviving are her husband, Chuck; two sons, Charles T. (Tina) Womack of Clio, MI, Scott Womack of Battle Creek; a daughter, Shannon Cook of Binghamton, NY; 9 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers Maxwell (Leslie) Abbott of Dallas, TX and Kenneth (Jeanie) Abbott of Lacey, WA.
Kathleen was a member of the Michigan Retired Teachers Association. She raised horses and was a former secretary and member of the Thoroughbred Breeders & Owners Association. Kathleen was an accomplished artist, an avid reader; was very organized and made things look easy.
Cremation will be conducted at Oak Hill Crematory. No visitation or service will be scheduled. Arrangements are by Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.
